About WebLife
WebLife is a multi-venture holding company that builds and operates multiple businesses simultaneously. Founded in 2008, with over 16 years of operational excellence and $250 million in all-time revenue, we have evolved from an e-commerce leader into a portfolio of AI-focused ventures spanning e-commerce, SaaS, education, and recruitment.
What sets us apart is our operational foundation — disciplined operations, data-driven decision-making, and deep AI integration across everything we do.
Backed by WebLife’s long-term stability and operational maturity, we operate with the speed and ownership mindset of a product-first startup — tight feedback loops, high accountability, and an expectation that every hire meaningfully influences strategy, execution, and how our ventures evolve over time. Combining the strength of a proven e-commerce business with the agility of an innovation hub, we offer a collaborative, growth-focused environment where your ideas matter and your career can thrive.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a Data & AI Engineer to own WebLife’s data warehouse end-to-end on Google Cloud Platform. You will design and build ELT/ETL pipelines, integrate third-party data sources, and serve as the internal expert on our GCP data stack across multiple ventures. You will be the sole owner of this platform, working cross-functionally with BI, product, marketing, and operations teams — translating business needs into well-architected data solutions with genuine autonomy. As the platform matures, this role will lead WebLife’s move into agentic AI using BigQuery ML and Google ADK.
Key Responsibilities
Data Platform & Engineering
- Own BigQuery data warehouse — schema design, data modelling, optimisation, and governance
- Design and build scalable ELT/ETL pipelines using GCP-native tools
- Integrate data from APIs, SaaS platforms, and third-party sources
- Ensure data quality, monitoring, alerting, and documentation across all pipelines
- Optimise warehouse performance and cost as data scales
Cloud & Architecture
- Serve as the internal expert on the GCP data stack (BigQuery, Cloud Functions, Cloud Run, Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub)
- Design scalable, secure, and cost-efficient data architectures across ventures
- Implement best practices for data access, security, and compliance
Collaboration
- Partner with product, marketing, and operations teams to deliver data solutions
- Enable BI and reporting through clean, well-structured data models
- Identify data gaps and opportunities proactively across the portfolio
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field
- 2–4 years in data engineering, data science, or a closely related technical role
- Experience working with international teams or clients from the US, UK, Europe, or Australia
- Strong SQL and Python
- Hands-on experience with a major cloud data warehouse — GCP BigQuery strongly preferred; AWS Redshift, Azure Synapse, or Snowflake considered for the right candidate
- Demonstrated experience building or contributing to ELT/ETL pipelines in a production environment
- Strong communication skills and ability to connect data work to business outcomes
Candidates with Data Science or Data Analysis backgrounds with hands-on exposure to data engineering and AI projects are strongly encouraged to apply.
Nice to Have
- Hands-on GCP experience across the wider stack (Cloud Functions, Cloud Run, Dataflow, Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub)
- Exposure to AI/ML workflows, BigQuery ML, or agentic frameworks
- Experience with Airflow or Cloud Composer
- Experience in e-commerce or multi-source data environments
- Understanding of data modelling principles — star/snowflake schemas, dimensional modelling
Technical Competencies
- Cloud data warehousing: GCP BigQuery (preferred), AWS Redshift, Azure Synapse, or Snowflake
- Languages: SQL (advanced), Python
- ELT/ETL pipeline design and orchestration
- Data quality monitoring and alerting
- API integrations and third-party data extraction
- Version control and technical documentation
Benefits
- Fully remote — work from the comfort of your home
- Competitive salary with payment in USD
- GCP certification support and professional development budget
- Be part of a culturally diverse, inclusive, and innovative team
- High-ownership role with direct influence on strategy across multiple ventures
