About WebLife

WebLife is a pioneering force in the eCommerce industry, with over $250 million in all-time revenue and a 16-year track record of building and scaling successful online businesses. As the largest distributor of mailboxes across the United States, WebLife has built a reputation for operational excellence, customer focus, and digital innovation.

The next chapter of WebLife focuses on building AI-native ventures on top of this strong foundation. By leveraging artificial intelligence, data, and advanced digital capabilities, we are developing scalable software products that extend our expertise beyond eCommerce and help businesses succeed in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.

Combining the strength of a proven eCommerce business with the agility of an innovation-driven environment, WebLife offers a collaborative, growth-focused workplace where ideas turn into real products and meaningful impact.

The Opportunity

This is not a typical QA role where you catch bugs at the end of a sprint. We are looking for a Quality Engineering Lead who thinks in systems, automates relentlessly, and makes quality a first-class engineering concern — not an afterthought.

As Quality Engineering Lead, you will own the quality strategy across our AI-native products. You will design and execute performance, automation, and functional testing at scale, embed quality into the development lifecycle, and champion the discipline that gives a small team the confidence to ship fast without breaking things.

If you want a seat where your work directly enables the business to move faster with higher confidence — and where you have the autonomy to build quality infrastructure from the ground up — this is it.

What You'll Do

Own the Quality Strategy

  • Define and drive the quality engineering roadmap across WebLife products — including testing strategy, automation standards, release confidence gates, and risk-based testing practices.
  • Ensure quality is embedded into the development lifecycle, not treated as a final-stage activity.
  • Make principled decisions around tooling, test coverage, automation ROI, and engineering trade-offs.

Lead Performance & Reliability Engineering

  • Design and operate scalable performance testing frameworks across our eCommerce and AI-native systems.
  • Identify bottlenecks, latency regressions, and reliability risks before they reach production.
  • Define SLAs, SLOs, and performance baselines in partnership with engineering and product.
  • Build CI-integrated performance and reliability testing pipelines using tools such as k6, Gatling, Locust, or JMeter.

Build Modern Automation Systems

  • Build and maintain scalable automation frameworks across UI, API, integration, and regression testing layers.
  • Leverage AI tooling and LLMs to accelerate test generation, coverage analysis, and defect triage.
  • Ensure fast, reliable regression coverage that supports continuous delivery and rapid iteration.
  • Evaluate and adopt emerging testing and AI-assisted quality engineering tools where appropriate.

Raise the Engineering Bar

  • Define quality standards across coverage, automation, reliability, and release readiness.
  • Drive a culture where quality is a shared engineering responsibility, not a downstream QA function.
  • Mentor engineers and Future Technologists on modern quality engineering practices.

Improve Production Confidence

  • Own observability for quality signals including regression trends, flaky test detection, and release health metrics.
  • Partner with engineering on incident readiness, resilience engineering, chaos testing, and production reliability practices.

Who You Are

  • 4+ years of quality engineering experience, including ownership of testing infrastructure for production systems.
  • Strong hands-on experience with automation engineering and performance testing at scale.
  • Comfortable building maintainable automation frameworks and tooling in Python and/or TypeScript.
  • Familiar with AI-assisted testing workflows and the unique quality challenges of LLM-powered systems, including non-determinism, latency variance, and evaluation design.
  • Strong understanding of functional and risk-based testing strategies, with the ability to prioritise coverage pragmatically.
  • Collaborative and influential, with the ability to improve engineering quality practices across teams.
  • Clear communicator who can translate technical quality and reliability risks to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with strong engineering judgement and a pragmatic approach to balancing speed, risk, and quality.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with security testing and vulnerability assessment for web applications and APIs (OWASP, DAST tools, API security).
  • Experience testing AI/LLM-powered systems, including evaluation design and non-deterministic behaviour.
  • Production experience with cloud-native systems on AWS, GCP, or Azure, including CI/CD and containerised environments.
  • Strong Python and/or TypeScript skills for automation and tooling.
  • Familiarity with contract testing and consumer-driven testing approaches.
  • Background in eCommerce, B2B SaaS, or startup environments.
  • Contributions to open-source projects, technical writing, or community speaking.

What We Offer

  • Competitive USD compensation aligned with senior-level talent.
  • Real ownership of the quality engineering function and visibility into the impact your work creates.
  • Direct collaboration with founders and engineering leadership, with influence over how products are built and shipped.
  • Autonomy to define tooling, standards, and modern quality engineering practices.
  • Exposure to AI-native products, cloud infrastructure, and modern engineering environments.
  • A remote-first culture built around ownership, trust, and outcomes.
  • The opportunity to grow with WebLife and help shape quality engineering in an AI-native company.
