About the Role

We're seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to manage day-to-day financial transactions and support month-end close for our e-commerce operations. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented accounting professional who takes ownership of transactional accuracy and keeps the books clean so our Home Office accounting team can focus on higher-level reporting and analysis. Working remotely from Sri Lanka, you'll collaborate closely with our US-based team while maintaining full responsibility for core bookkeeping functions.

Responsibilities:

  • Process vendor invoices, payments, and purchase order matching in Xero; record customer payments and manage collections follow-up; reconcile A/P and A/R aging reports and resolve discrepancies promptly
  • Perform monthly reconciliations for bank accounts and credit cards, ensuring all transactions are coded accurately to the correct accounts and cost centers, and investigate and resolve reconciling items in a timely manner
  • Process the complete payroll cycle including wage calculations, tax withholdings, and direct deposits; prepare and file quarterly and annual payroll tax returns (941, 940, state filings); and maintain accurate payroll records in coordination with HR
  • Coordinate with outsourced compliance partners to ensure timely filing of sales tax and B&O returns across applicable states; maintain filing calendars and respond to notices or follow-up requests from partners
  • Complete all necessary QC checks in preparation for month-end close, including tracking down missing invoices and shipped dates, and identify and report any missing Xero links to the Home Office team prior to close deadlines
  • Assist in identifying and documenting transaction discrepancies, write-offs, and unexplained variances for Home Office review, and flag patterns or anomalies in transaction data that may indicate processing errors or losses

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of bookkeeping experience, preferably supporting US-based e-commerce companies
  • Proficiency in Xero (required); experience with high-volume transaction environments a plus
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP bookkeeping standards and compliance requirements
  • Experience processing US payroll and filing federal and state payroll tax returns
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a full bookkeeping cycle independently with minimal supervision
  • High attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy across large transaction volumes
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills; comfortable working across time zones using Slack, Zoom, and email
  • High level of integrity and discretion with confidential financial information

What We Offer

  • Competitive USD-based compensation packages
  • AI-driven, innovation-focused projects
  • A culture that encourages curiosity and lifelong learning
  • Clear career paths and personal development opportunities
  • A flexible, work-from-home setup as part of a globally connected team
